my boss is putting together a powerpoint presentation and is wanting to put a small clip from a movie in it. she has the movie on DVD and is wondering if there is a way to "pull out" the scene she wants to use and save it as a file by itself and then out a link to it within the PP presentation... (she actually wants to imbed it in the presentation, but i am hoping to talk her out of that because of everything i have heard about it bogging things down when you do that...)

does anyone know if this is possible? and if so, can you point me in the right direction...?

thanks in advance...

I would be very, very careful in regards to copyright infringement. However---

Display the slide you want to add the video to.

On the Insert menu, point to Movies and Sounds.

Do one of the following:
To insert a video from the Clip Gallery, click Movie from Gallery, and then locate and insert the video you want.

To insert a video from another location, click Movie from File, locate the folder that contains the video, and then double-click the video you want.

A message is displayed. If you want the movie to play automatically when you move to the slide, click Yes; if you want the movie to play only when you click the movie during a slide show, click No.

To preview the movie in normal view, double-click the movie.

This is from help..

Video files are very large and it will make it nearly impossible to mail your presentation.

I would recommend against it if it does not provide any real value to your presentation.

someone had discussed this in the ethics forum and had posted the copyright laws. i dont think there is a real reisk of infringement as it would be being used in an educational presentation.

i know how to physically insert the file, what i am needing help with is finding out if it is possible to save the segment off a DVD for use in the presentation. that is the part i am slueless about. i am hoping that someone here has done this before and can tell me how to do it, or if it is even possible for that matter...

thank you for your advise :)
