Inser into Error

I am trying to insert an identical set of colums to an existing table1. A column in the new set of colums has some null values ' ' that needs to merge with the existing column in table1. I think this is why I am getting the following error.
"String or binary data would be truncated.
The statement has been terminated."

Pls advice on how to resolve this problem.

It looks to me like the data you are trying to insert has more characters in one or more fo the fields than the table allows.
