When using help panel highlighted words are not displayed.
Underlined links work. Click on highlighted words does nothing when you should get a definition. Is this a service pack thing?
The user is using WIN2000 Pro not XP.
XP has the option for a drop down box to appear as a
definition of the word that is highlighted. Certain words
hightlighted in help panel are javascript popups which
do not open. I have service pack 4 and have the same problem although I dont use the option much.
Thanks for the response.
I was thinking of highlights in search results, my apologies.
The 'how to' and 'definition' popups are disabled to close a potential security hole (Office XP/2002 and 2003 use a different method for definition display). When you install the UA Control Security update, the Ouactrl.ocx file is updated on your hard disk.
NOTE: The version that is installed by the Office 2000 programs is version 1.01.0009. The updated version of this control is 2.0.
You can replace the updated file with the original version, and this will sort the issue. (It is *not* something MS is going to recommend. You do so at your risk.)
The last Office 2000 program that is installed writes the full path to the installation of Ouactrl.ocx in the Path string value of the following key in the Windows Registry:
HKLM\software\microsoft\office\9.0\common\InstallRoot
The folder path that is specified by this Path string value is used by the UA Control Security update, and the copy of Ouactrl.ocx in this path is the only one that would need to be replaced with the copy from the original Office 2k CD.
