Input to the textbox from weighing scale

Hi ,
I am wondering whether this can be done or not. I need to take the input from an electronic weighing scale into a text box in my vb.net windows application.
It can be either automatically as soon as sometihng is placed on the scale or on button click
The thing is i have no clue about how to go about it.
Any suggestions are highly appreciated.
