Input mask on form

I have a form that is bound to a table. This table has Input masks defined for several fields. When I enter into this form, it appears that these masks are ignored, even though I haven't specified masks for these bound fields on the form. The only way I am able to use the input masks is to re-define them for the bound fields on the form. Shouldn't the Input masks in the table definition apply if none are specified on the form? I am using Access 2002 and the underlying table is linked to the form.

Thanks,

Gerry Goldberg

no, they're handled separately. you're usually better off leaving all of the rules on the form rather than the table to ease automated data entry techniques should you wish to use them later on, but you can put imput masks on both, just remember that a change in one environment doesn't dictate access's behavior in the other
