Information on a Search Box

I have taken a look on the forum and have found some information but it's a little confusing does anyone know where i can get or could someone provide a walkthrough on how to create your own Search box to be used on a form.

I used some of those examples to get ideas & make my own search form and then added a code to take the users from the search form results back to the main record that was listed.
