I was wondering if sql allow to be updated from a different ip than what the sql2000 server uses.

Also wanting to know if the same cross domain updating can be done from sql to oracle?

thanks db gurus!

For updating between oracle and SQL, it sounds like you need a scheduled DTS job of some sort.

As far as updating from a different IP, I'm not sure what you mean. What are you updating? From what type of program are you trying to update? More details on this would be helpful.

Did you mean 'cross server' for 'cross domain'? You can update another table on a remote SQL Server from local server using linked server, if the oracle provider allows you do that, you can also update an oracle table, I guess but I can't be sure because I don't have an oracle to test.
