The telnet and ftp services not functioning. If I refesh the inetd subsystem they will function for a short period of time. What should I do to keep these services active.

They should stay active on their own. Are other inetd services still working after telnet and ftp die? After you see you services die issue a 'netstat -na|grep 23' for grep for 21 and see if inetd indeed has these ports open. If it does not, then verify inetd is running.

try 'df' you there is any 100% used filesystem (/ or /var)...

and check error log

errpt -a|more

As ogniemi said, errpt -a | more to start with!

Then I advice you to discuss your case with your network administrator! He will be able to tell you much about what the box does just before the inetd stops!

Regards,
Khalid
