Index Server won't catalog -- Help!!!!

Need to get Index Server working soon... however, over numerous tries, it just seems to either a) Starts, but does not index anything (I even regedit'ed the process priority to normal) b) indexes files, but none are in the directory to be indexed.

I have also tried specifying a directory and forcing a full scan.

Situation: Windows 2000 SP3 (IIS, Index Server all installed). Adobe iFilter is also installed.

Anyone have any suggestions on how I can get it to create a "good" catalog? Thanks in advance.
