I am using BE 9.1. We currently do a Full Backup every night. Than, we have incremental backups for our SQL Databases.

Our DB is about 12 Gigs. My Incremental backups take about 8 Gigs every time it runs (hourly). Does this sound right? I think I may be doing something wrong. Incrementals should not be that big, right?

BE backup setup:
Full Backup, Allow Incremental/Differential using modified time. (it was originally setup for Full Backup reset archive bit, and I changed it, but it made no difference) Full Backup running every night.

Incremental Backups using modified time, running every hour.

DB is set to Simple.

Thanks for your help,
EA

How heavily is the database modified?

Incremental (Veritas)/Differential (SQL Server) backs up all the changes of any kind since the last full backup. So if your data is heavily modified the incremental/differential can be larger than the database itself.

SQLBill, Thanks for the info. That clears up a lot of questions.
