Increase Audio Level

On a Definity G3si V8, is it possible to increase the audio volume level on an analog line (i.e. type 2500)? I am aware of the 'change terminal-parameters xxxxxx' command; however, 2500 is not one of the options.

The Definity G3si V8 is connected to a Intel Dialogic D/41JCT-LS board. When tapping one of these analog lines (recordings were done with CoolEdit), incoming calls from the PSTN have a low audio volume. However, calls made from a 64xx or 84xx internal station sound fine. Outbound audio levels from the Dialogic board sound OK. Only incoming calls seem to have low audio levels. Each of our local and long distance providers indicate that our lines test normal and the dB levels are within specifications.

Is there a way to amplify the audio level on an incoming call on the Dialogic board? Since there are so many configuration options for the board ... not sure where to begin.

Any suggestions or advice would be much obliged.

You can change the signal loss groups. The - numbers increase the sound. You can place the analogs in a different loss qroup than the digitals.

I've changed the Loss Group for the analog lines from a '1' to '17'. Also, I changed the Analog Loss Group and Digital Loss Group on the 1FB trunk group (incoming calls) to '17'. However, no difference in the audio level.

Any other suggestions?

BTW, the setup is:

Calls come in on the 1FB trunk group. The trunk group has a Incoming Destination extension (which is a VDN). The VDN routes to a hunt-group that has the 4 analog lines.

Hmmm ... should I use the lead hunt-group number instead of the VDN as the Incoming Destination?

you have to look at your loss tables. disp sys country and see what the levels are. then select one that is in the neg to increase your volume

Is this logic correct?

A display system-parameters country-options has a loss plan of:

       TO
       1  2  3 ...
F   1: 0  0  0 ...
R   [...]
O   5: 0  0 -3 ...
M   [...]

On row 5, column 3: the value is -3. I have a trunk group (let's call it 'X') and an analog station (let's call it 'Y').

Since I want to increase the volume from trunk group X to station Y, do I change the following:

% change trunk-group X
(change the Analog Loss Group to 5 in order to match the FROM row)
% change station Y
(change the Loss Group to 3 in order to match the TO column)

... meaning increase the volume -3 on calls from trunk group X to station Y.

Is that the correct way to read the loss plan table?

Sorry must have been dyslexic when I responded before. The positive numbers decrease the signal loss and increase the volume.

I have adjusted my tables to decrease the volume on ip phones to get rid of echo. Sorry for the confusion.

I think you were correct this first time. According to the Definity Administrator's Guide:

Loss plans determine the amount of loss (quieter) or gain (louder) applied on calls.

The FROM / TO has valid entries of -3 to 15:

An unsigned number is a loss, while a number preceded with a minus sign is a gain.

I want to gain volume on the call; so, the largest value I can apply is a -3.

I'm just wondering if I am reading the loss plan table correctly. Any thoughts?

What I did was set my loss tables to have the same loss both directions. You can experiment with the numbers. Only draw back is that avaya would have to set the settings. I have maint so it didnt matter. If you do not have maint you can keep changing the loss table selection. I do know it works because I have trunks in costa rica and Austrailia to Denver, that gave me trouble. I set those trunks in a loss group and made changes until i got what i needed.
