I am running W2KPro on a msi-5169(Aladdin Chipset) MoBo w/ a AMD K62 450. After a fresh install of W2K I check the system info. , and it is reporting only half the speed --"226" to be exact. It also shows my BIOS to be a DMI bios that is dated 1995. I have updated the BIOS to the most recent BIOS. I do belive it is more than just a misreport because all of my apps now run EXTREMELY slower than normal.

ANY SUGGESTIONS?

I have the same problems although a diffrent motherboard it has exaclty the same problem that you state but also when I run CounterStrike or 3DMark 2000 everything is speeded up twice as fast. If I play CounterStrike online I can run past everyone my firerate is twice as fast etc .. very bizzare. Im sure its something to do with the motherboard as I have upgraded my graphics card and exaclty the same thing happens.

Ive seen a few people who suffer from the same problem but as of yet have yet to find somebody who has fixed the problem.

My system

K6-2-450Mhz
Gigabyte 5AX Rev 4
Geforce 2 Ultra
256MB Ram
SBLive

I to am reunning win2k pro aon a k6-2 450,
Apparently windows miss reports the speed of these cpus,
(I don't think that's the whole story though) so it might not be any settings or confilicts
(if it isn't a miss report and you do get a bit more out of your cpu please tell me so I can too)

Well I have just gone back to a previous mobo (Via Chipset) I had lying around , FSB is correctly reported and games work properly.
I have to upgrade to a TBird soon anyway so I wont be stuck with it for that long :)

Well guys we have actually found the problem. Aren't forums just wonderful! Well here is what you do. In Device Manager under Computer you'll see Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) PC. Click on Properties, then click on Update Driver. Select show all devices and then select "Standard PC". Then reboot. W2K should re-enumerate all your PnP devices, but since you had already installed them previously then they should re-install automatically! Some older MoBo's just aren't compatible with W2K's new ACPI drivers, and mine just so happens to be one of them! Also check this:

Nice one Mammoth, Ill give the fix a go in a few days be kewl if it works for me also and fixes my CS problems.
Although I was thinking of selling my mobo on Ebay for 2million quid cause you can cheat with it ;)
