I'm running ARCserve 11.5 and am having problems with my backups being incomplete due to open files.
I understand that I cannot backup open file without the open file option but the warning is causing my actual backups to become useless. I'm unable to restore a file in the session as a failed open file that had been copied after the open file warning occurred.

I'm not as concerned about getting the missing open files as I am about being able to restore the remainder of the files stored in the backup.

Thanks,

Joshua

Sorry I don't understand about the restore failure, explain it in a different way, give details, exact example.

An example:

We backup a bunch of folders with names that are incremental integers.

10001
10002
10003
10004
10005
10006
..
..

If the backup fails to get a file from the 10003 folder I'm unable to restore files from the 10003 folder and everything after it. If I try to restore from folders backed up before the open file issue, it is successful.

Let me know if this is clear enough for you.

This sounds very strange. I have a lot of incomplete backups but the only thing that they don't backup is the open file in use, everything else gets backed up. Have you had a look on your configuration?

I hope you find this post helpful.

GSC,
Are you able to restore from the incomplete backups without issue?

Sincerely,

Joshua

Yes, we do a test restore once per week, no issues what so ever.

I hope you find this post helpful.
