Inappropriate ioctl for device error (Spreadsheet::write excel close)

I get this message from a statement
$workbook->close() or print "$! \n";
where workbook is a Spreadsheet::WriteExcel object.
Anyone understand what this maybe about? Could it be perl thinks the file is already closed?
 
Has your object gone out of scope maybe?

Not sure how the link is relevant unless the idea is to look at
@ARGV as the result of the close call?
 
Link is just to show that having mistakes with the syntax might produce this kind of error.
