I have a typical mother board with 2 IDE connectors
One is Primary IDE ATA-100
the other is Secondary ATA-66

I want my Boot drive or C: to be on the secondary IDE
And the D:\and E:\ 76gig drives ATA-100 to be on the Primary port.
So they take advantage of the faster port speed.

How do I configure my boot.ini to reflect this
and how do I make the computer see the Second port first
Right now it wants to boot to the 76 gig drive first and it has no operating system on it. the computer thinks that is really c:
?????

if not scsi
for 1st disk it is :
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT="Microsoft Windows 2000 Server"
for 2nd disk it is :
multi(0)disk(1)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT="Microsoft Windows 2000 Server"
the cahnge is only in disk(x)where x is the disk no.
u can find out the disk no. in the disk management

The multi(0) stands for SCSI with its BIOS turned on.
disk(0) is the first disk on the chain.
rdisk(0) is the chain number
partition(1) is the partition # the system files are on.
(If your SCSI bios is off then your multi(0) becomes scsi(0)

Here is what I had to do
I disconnected the the 76 gig from the Primary IDE connector and conneted it to the Seconday IDE. Then connected the 3 gig to the PIDE and booted up inside windos 2000 Server I formated the 76 gig and copied all of th efiles from the 3 gig root to the 76 gig and modified the boot.ini to point to the rdisk(1)

turned off the PC then switched the clabes back and it worked perfect.

so the machine boots and runs on C:(3 gig) but its the first drive on the Secondary IDE and the 76 gig is the first one on the Primary IDE so its now D:
