importing word or word perfect documents

Could be a few things. Do your documents have headers and footers? PM does not like them, so remove them first. There could be graphics in them that PM does not have a filter for, so they should be moved to another file and imported later so you can find the errant graphic. You might also want to try re-installing the Word and Word Perfect filters from the Adobe Web site. I'm trying to think of all the problems I have had in the past, and that about covers it. But there are probably more suggestions out there...

Thanks Debkakes, but I am still having problems placing text. I tried reloading my pagemaker program, but it still doesn't work. I'm not sure how to get the filters for Word and Word Perfect from the Adobe website. The text problem... Could it be because I don't have enough memory? On my computer, I mean.

What version of Word and Word Perfect do you have?
Look on Adobes website for the import filters for these versions of Word and Perfect. You could have damaged import filters which can happen easily or you need to update the filters.
Have you ever been able to place this version of files before? If you have then it is something with the import filters not understanding the info.
Try new filters and let me know if this doesnt work.

On the Adobe site, go to Products>Downloads>then select Pagemaker and whatever platform you are using. That will take you to the selection of filters. Then just follow all the steps. Definitely read the "Read Me' information in the filter folder. It will have information about elements in your document that might be giving you problems when trying to place it into Pagemaker.
