I am trying to import a three-state button into dreamweaver form fireworks.

The 'insert rollover' option will only give let me insert two states of the button. Am i going to have to figure out how to insert all three states in HTML or is there a button somewhere that will do all this for me?

if you have built the rollover in fireworks, and have it as a three frame three state button- then simply slice it, apply a nav bar behavior, and export it with the HTML.
Once you have the HTML select the entire table the navbar is in and paste it where you want it on the page you want it on.
If you have 3 seperate images you wish to manualy use, then DW has a nav bar insertion, which allows up to 4 states from memory. Sometimes, when my code just won't behave, I take it outside and make it listen to britney spears music, and when it comes back it's really well behaved. I wonder if it's suffering from post tramatic stress syndrome now..

I've tried this but I should have mentioned I have 7 buttons & DW will only let me put 1 nav bar in & I can figure out if there's a way to split this into 7 bits

do you mean 7 different navigation bars- or just 7 buttons?
If you are using the dreamweaver function to do it, there is a plus sign + that lets you add the next button- you can choose weather to have a horizontal menu or a vertical menu.

so- do the first button, link it, add all the images etc, then go to the top of the nav bar box in dreamweaver that you are working in (where you have just put the first button) above the box that holds the buttons name, there are up and down arrows to one side, and plus and minus signs to the other- use the plus sign to add another button.
Fill that button in, and hit the plus sign again until you have your seven buttons. Sometimes, when my code just won't behave, I take it outside and make it listen to britney spears music, and when it comes back it's really well behaved. I wonder if it's suffering from post tramatic stress syndrome now..

why use 3 state? its easier to do this with flash and also the only state anyone really notices are mouseover and the primary state. The onclick event is a fraction or a fraction of a second and in my opinion its not worth going bald over. [soapbox]

Cheers DaRNCaT - that's helped loads.
I thought it was a bit odd calling it a navigation bar tool & only being able to put one button on it!
The reason I wanted a three-state button is that I'm just learning how this works (ie dreamweaver & fireworks) - I've never done anything remotely like it before & want to find out exactly what thy can/can't do.
