Hi,

Not sure if this is the correct area for this question but doesn`t fit anywhere so here goes.

I have just split a database to a front end Back end style using linked tables to join the two ends together. This has now fallen over on the daily importation of text files. For some reason I now get the error 'Run Time error 3349: Numeric Field Overflow'. This only occurs with the linked table and if I do the exact same sequence with the actual table then it works perfectly.

Does anyone know the reason for this occuring and how to get around the problem.

Thanks

Ian

Hi, Ian!

Did you ever figure this out? I haven't and I'm getting the same thing as you did. My circumstances may or may not be different:
Importing fixed-length fields into a linked table
Access 2002 converted from Access 97
Front-end/Back-end processing with DAO

One additional twist: The TransferText seems to read past the end of file in local mode with Access 2002 and yields one "extra" record than is in the original file.

How did you work around the problem? Did you get Microsoft involved?

Thanks,

John Harkins
