Importing Microsoft Outlook Address Book from another PC

I want to import the MS outlook address book from another PC. I exported the address book from another PC to a comma separated values file on a floppy disc and then imported that file to my PC but it creates only a few address book entries and not the complete address book.

Can someone tell me a more appropriate way to do it?

If you wish to import to an empty address book: If you can, archive the old address book. Then copy the archive file to the new location. Outlook should then pick it up with all your addresses. I recently did this after rebuilding my pc.

Hi, Isha

The best way to import is directly from the .PST file in use on the source machine. For this to work the two versions of Outlook have to be compatible with the PST format in use on the source machine, and the .PST file itself has to be write=accessible to the destination Outlook.

If you access the source PST file directly then Outlook will have to be shut down on that machine. It is preferable to work with a copy of the file, if possible, copied to a local hard drive on the destination machine.

Then use File/import & export/import from another program or file and choose PST as the file type to import from.

That way you can use folders and import all data, not just the address book stuff and you can determine how duplicates are handled.

BTW this is not really a Win XP question and you would likely get a lot better help in the Microsoft Office forum, so it might be worth your while re-posting over there.
