Hello,

I am a newbie here, and Im also a newbie to Quark. I am trying to import a graphic into Quark and find that the image is choppy in formats like eps, jpg, tiff and also imports as the wrong size (smaller).I imported it as a bmp and it looks great. But my problem is, I need a transparent background, does Quark support this? What should I import my images as?

Any tips would be great!

Thank You

You will need to create a clipping path around your image in Photoshop and then export it out as an EPS. You can put clipping paths within Quark also, but better in Photoshop. If you are uneasy about doing clipping paths, there is a Transparency Wizard under the Help menu to create your transparent EPS file. Hope this helped. It's also best not to use JPG, or BMP files if you are going to prepress with your Quark document.

I work for a printer in a desktop department, create a clipping path for your CMYK photshop files, Ask your printer if their rip can handle files using Transparency Wizard, ours cannot. If their rip cannot they probally wiil charge you extra to create a clipping path on your files. Also ask them how their RIP handles BMP or Bitmap files. My rip handle them fine and our clients can import them into their files to get the transpanrency effect they are looking for.
