Hi All,
I have a database which I was told is a ms sql server 6.x
format. It has an extension of .dat, is this correct?
I have noticed that sql server 2000 uses .mdf
I am confused.

I am trying to import it to sql server 2000 and cannot seem to do so.

is this an incompatibility or a user error?

any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks,

The file format changed from 6.5 to 7.0 and beyond... the database it came from will need to be upgraded to the new format before you can use it...
