So I finally got fed up with some oddball PC behavior that I couldn't track down and backed up necessary stuff and reformatted ye olde HD and reloaded everything. Running Win ME, Office XP (though I also have 97 & 2K installed).

One of the things I backed up was contacts in Outlook 2K, just exported them to a CSV file choosing all defaults along the way (ie, no custom mapping, etc). When I import them back into the Outlook XP Contacts folder, they appear in the Contacts folder, and if I call one up, can then choose to send that person an email.

However, when I start a new email, then click the To button, there are NO contacts shown. I am sure there's something relatively simple here that I'm missing, but after playing with it for a while, I can't seem to hit on the solution.

Thanks in advance for any help--

Ben

Right click on the contacts folder and go to properties.

There will be a tab for "Outlook Address Book", in there select "show this folder as an e-mail address book".

Thanks a lot--I figured it would be something simple.

Actually, no joy...the option is greyed out...any thing else??

Again, thanks for the help...

Okay...go into "tools, services" and check to make sure that the "Outlook Address Book" is added. mot98

That's got it most of the way there...when I'm in a new message, the To button now brings up the contact list--THANKS!!

Last thing, the contact find control on the toolbar is still blank...any thoughts? I will play around with it a bit, but you seem to know your way around Outlook.

TIA
Ben

I got it...just had to re-add it to the toolbar.

Thanks again
