When importing an image (JPEG file)into Word either via copy/paste or using WORD's Insert, the image is invisible, so cannot be edited. However Print Preview shows the image clearly and it prints OK. The frame with handles can be seen, but no more.
My AMD 3200 system has 1 Gb RAM with Win XP Pro/SP2. Office 2003 was updated to Office XP Pro without any improvement.
I recently noticed a similar problem on a friend's PC with similar specifications.
Any ideas will be much appreciated. Rosco

Hi there.

To see the image, right-click on it, FORMAT PICTURE/LAYOUT and select the pooldle "in front of text" and OK.

Thanks waldesel, but no success!
I had tried your suggestion previously and again just now. The right click option has the "Edit Picture" & "Format Object" greyed out, so I am still looking for a solution. Thanks for your thoughts.

If the pictures are visible in Print Preview,
check in Tools=>Options=>View to see if you have
turned on [x] Picture Placeholders.

Yes, Picture Placeholders box is checked, still no solution!
BTW, Bill, your post of 17 Sept re XP System Sounds missing was a great help to me. Your registry edit solved that problem.

I am so glad to hear the sound problem workaround helped. That was a tough issue, and still not completely resolved for some Sound Blaster users.

In your case, I wanted the placeholder box "unchecked."
I apologize if that was not clear.

Hey, problem resolved? Unchecking the Placehoder box did the trick! My sincerest thanks. My only thoughts now are what changed that setting? As all is well I do not seek an answer to this last question!
Cheers
