Important Note concerning G3 release 6 to release 12

FYI:
I got this info from an Avaya tech.
Has anyone run into this problem?
I'm gonna be upgrading a release 5 to 12 in the next few
weeks and I'm doing my homework.
Any input from anyone who has done a similar upgrade (pre-R6) will be greatly appreciated.

There is a known problem (undocumented as yet )when up upgrading from release 6 to release 12.You cannot
go immediately to release 12 you will have to step it up. Have on hand a r11 and newest r12 load range flash card.
Upgrade or downgrade to r11 first , save translations , then upgrade to r12,. If you don"t your translations will be corrupted.
They changed something in the dial plan format.

U should be able to check the avaya website and find out if what he is saying is true. But the links don't work at this site, and I was unable to find it in 15 minutes of looking. Maybe u will have better luck looking at avaya than I did. I know that in some cases u do have to upgrade twice.

this is where I was looking that the links didn't work. A normal problem with the Avaya site, sorry to say.

The customer has a G3si w/ 2 cabinets.
