Hi,

I have to import data from a dump file into a database in archivelog mode.

The estimated time for a database in noarchivelog mode is 5 hours.

My questions :
- are the insert orders (generated by imp tool) loggued into the archive log ?
- If yes, I certainly need to set up the database in Noarchivelog before begining the import in order to reduce the import ?

Rgds,

Considering how long your import runs, you should experiment with doing a direct path import. If it works you should see a dramatic improvement in execution time.

What do you mean by direct path import ?

Sorry for the bad advice. Direct path is an option for export and loads, but I don't find it listed as an option for import.

I would like to say that it was a mere mental slip, but the truth is it's actually a demonstration of ignorance.

Of course, you can look at direct path loads to improve performance, but this would require you to have your data in a file suitable for the load utility. I don't know whether this is an option for you.
