I'm trying to convert HTML formatted reports to an Excel spreadsheet. When I open the HTML table in Excel, the cell contents become formatted in bizarre ways. Some cells are NUMBERS; some are TIME/DATE; some are TEXT.

Is there a way to import/open an HTML file so that all cell contents are treated as TEXT?

Another thought:

Can anyone recommend a freeware/shareware program that could open the HTML file and then convert it to CSV so that I could import into Excel?

Can you copy the table into a text editor like notepad then open the file in excel as a delimited text file which should then be able to be saved as a CSV file...

The HTML that I was asking about was too much to do manual copying into a text editor to finesse.

Looking back at this old question, I have to wonder what I was drinking.

If I recall correctly, I never found a solution. I was trying to beat the web publisher to providing manageable data by extracting what they already published online. I think that they eventually provided the original database that was used to create their pages so this question was no longer important to me.
