Import CSV File To Access Formating Issue

Greetings,

I'm having trouble importing a CSV file into access, one field I'm formating as TEXT for the import, some entries I'm receiving scientific notation in the table. The entries can be alpha-numeric or just numeric. CSV files don't keep their format when you close them down. Any advice is greatly appreciated

Are you sure if you find the row in the CSV file that the value isn't scientific notation in there?

I have heard that EXCEL can be obnoxious when saving as a CSV and doing value changes. If this is the problem, try formating the cells as text.

If it is not an Excel problem, then I am guessing something like the column does not have text delimiters and you are specifying one in your specification. Typically double quotes are used or nothing. If possible, getting the CSV file to be consistent would be ideal. Come to think of it this may be why the person telling me about the CSV/Excel problem has issues as Excel likes to put double quotes around text.

Hi,

Sounds silly, but are you sure that you are dragging the field wide enough in Access, or are you sure that the Access field data-type is correct for this size of number?
