IMAP4 not started even though the service is

Even though the IMAP service is set to start automatically under the control panel services, and it says it is started, it isn't under the Exchange System Manager.

I need to go into System Manager, click on the server and then protocols, IMAP4 and then enable it there every time I reboot.

PLEASE HELP?

The event viewer doesn't specify any issues.
