It won't work in the way you've done - as you can see! In our environment, we used Outlook Express to import people's IMAP mail. The original IMAP client used was Netscape Messenger, which is why an extra step was needed. Configure OutlX to connect to the IMAP server and download the mail folders and messages. Configure Outlook to use the Corporate or Workgroup option. In Outlook, go to the Import and Export menu and select Import Internet Mail and Addresses. Import the messages and folders from Outlook Express. Thousands of messages took the matter of a few seconds to convert. Outlook Express can also convert Netscape Addressbooks, so we did that and imported them into Outlook from Outlook Express.

If you use an older IMAP client like Simeon, a utility called Dawn can help convert address books. Obviously, if you're already using Outlook Express to connect you your IMAP server, life is a lot easier!
