Hey any one here know once you get xp to boot across different platforms, how do i deploy chipsets ?, the problems is we have 2000 machines and several chipsets like 20 proabably, i dont want to touch everymachine or make an image per chipset any ideas are welcome thanks.

Assuming your using sysprep, make sure you use and populate the mass storage controller atribute.

The chipset should be too much of an issue I have yet to have one off a typical workstation class PC that XP couldn't handle.

Well reason im having a problem with a machine under device manager it shows a componet call "ISAPNP read data port" Which has a yellow mark indicating not installed, any ideas?

Is this ISAPNP port actually in use??? If not, try removing it. Sounds like this could be a fairly old card. It aslso sounds like a config file may be missing. The ISAPNP is used to load/configure older ISA bus cards that may/may not be plug and play. Try doing a google search for more info.

its all intergrated on the Mobo, i tried uninstalling it, it reinstalls it, and when i disable it, its still shows a red x which works but is a little annoying...but i guess it works thanks

Anything "built in" on the motherboard, should be able to start/stop in Bios setup.

ok...guys when using sysprep what is the i386 folder for?
And i seem to have a problem after i image a machine in device manager it has com port 1 ,com port 1(yellow !)com port 2 ,com port 2(yellow !) any ideas about that ?

i386 is the where the source files for the installation will be placed.

Any disabled device will have a red X.

The port problems could be a chipset issue. How old are these machines?

Has the manufacturer released updated XP drivers for the ISA data port?

What I like to do is put a copy of any driver that XP can't/won't load (you know which ones by testing) onto the HD of the machine I am imaging so I can run a quick install after imaging if needed. In my experience sometimes XP will choke on the PnP portion of the setup and not see a common device (mostly integrated sound). May want to test with and without the -pnp switch.

Not sure how your doing your install, but have a slipstreamed XP install disc (have SP1 and a SP2RC2 version (this has trouble with MS fucking up the TCP/IP stack)). Installed drivers for the motherboard in %oem%\Drivers\00_system (must contain an inf file install)

Then placed the following in the winnt.sif file in i386:

[Unattended]
OemPnPDriversPath="drivers\00_system";"drivers\01_display";"drivers\03_sound"
DriverSigningPolicy= Ignore

Did this with the latest NForce drivers and it sailed through our last install's

The Com port problem may be because IRQ sharing is set differently in the BIOS of different PC's.

If you just remove the non-working Com ports then XP is likely to put them back again as the info is still in the registry.

Try removing all the Com ports - working and non-working - and then re-boot. XP should put back just the working ones.

ok...thanks guys......i fixed that problem buy uninstalling com ports on main image and not using -pnp in sysprep,

Here is the next problem im having, when i image a machine 2 machines with intel pro/100 and one with intel pro/1000 wont install even though i have the path to the drivers in OemPnPDriversPath=drivers\pro100\nic;drivers\pro1000\nic; , does any one know how i can fix this?

thanks,

and another question is a cd with XP sp1 the same as xp slimstreamed with sp1...i would think so..just asking for sure though?

After the install have you tried installing the drivers from the path in OemPnPDriversPath, does it install then??

As for the install cd's, very good question, and whilst I would they are the same, nothing would surprise me any more.

yes they work....it does prompt for cd...but i point it to the same path as in OemPnPdriverspath= and it installs...weird!!!! any ideas

Hey guys,

Any one know how to get intel pro100 ve to install druing sysprep setup, everytime it comes up after sysprep, that nic isnt installed, i have the driverpolicy set to ignore......any ideas?

thanks, i have already read that article, which has been applied and other ideas why it ask for Intel cd-rom during sysprep. i have checked to make sure there was a Digital sig by MS but still no go!!!!

Well i think i fixed it asking for CD-rom, but when it boots up , it run the device setup ...i put in the same path i have in OemPnPDriversPath= drivers\gx260\nic and it install great... its the intel pro\1000 MT and pro\100 VE which are nto installing any other ideas? Thanks for your help!!!!
