THE FOLLOWING STEPS OF THE REPAIR OPERATION FAILED:
1.renewing the ip address
2.Purging and reloading the remote cache name table of NetBT.
3.Sending Name Release Packets to WINS and then Starting Refresh.
4.Refreshing all DHCP leases and re-registering DNS names.

ALSO in addition..

This occurred when i tryed to use ipconfig....

Are you using a router?
What internet connection are using??

Whatever you do, be nice to to people who helps you or try their best to make things better for you.

And bigdarrelol,

Under the properties sheet for the adapter, TCP/IP Properties, Advanced, WINS tab, disable LMHOSTS and enable "Use Netbios over TCP/IP".

My link above should fix your IP addressing issues, but the setting given here should be applied later to help with network addressing issues.

Thanks BCaster and Franklin

Im not great at this so please be patient
I ran the winstock file you provided BCaster thanks.
Franklin i do have a default gateway and dhcp server ip.
But it seems that i got a nic card diagnostic from the internet from CNET for the cnetpro200wl ethernet adapter card and when i tried to run it it said it could not find the file for this device.
alot or i should say most of the time the system in dos or win says no file found for this device.
along with there may be a corrupt driver or file.
im stuck
im not good at the bios and TCIP,,, i did do the disable and enable in the TCIP as you suggested BCaster,
still no IP or anything.

what do i need to provide to you guys for accurate information since it seems my nic card isnt working and i cant get a ip address or repair or run a diagnostic on the NIC card.

thanks DArrell--------again thank you for you help.

At least from your posting above, the only DHCP server being shown is the broadcast address of 255.255.255.255. This is not good.

One off-the-wall guess for you to look at is that either the discovery services are stopped on your Computer, or an entry has been made for a dependent service that has been uninstalled.

I saw once a similar problem, and it was due to un-installing Norton Anti-virus. Please see this site for an explanation and repair:

I like this website because it has some good tutorials:

For networking help you have to be more specific.

OS
Type of netwoking?
ICS Sharing a Modem
Cable modem for cable TV Internet
DSL High speed Internet over the phone.
Loacal home network with no Internet.
Whether you get a static IP from your provider or just are issued one automatically every time you turn on your computer or whatever.

If you do not like my post feel free to point out your opinion or my errors.

One of the easiest ways to fix network errors, is to remove the networking,
remove network card and reboot
shut down reinstall your network card
start over.

I know most network pros wont agree with me
but I dont like dhcp I would much rather have
everything static this way I dont have to worry about the dhcp server shutting down or problems when leasing a address

remember K.I.S.S

mennonitevillage:
Statis IP is OK but you then have to manualy set the name servers and the routing. This is simple?

static is easy once the network is setup. go into network properties set ip address click on subnet windows will automaticly fill in default for this scheem, then put in the gateway adress, then dns server(usually main server) thats it for the base networking .

you then ask to join domain set up profiles that sort of stuff but the base networking is done.
