Hi! I'm trying to put our website up on the server. IIS 5.0 is running. I've created the virtual directory and all of that. It will access the html pages, but will not access the asp pages.

I get the http 500 error and when I turn off "friendly http headers", I get "Server Application Error - The server has encountered an error while loading an application during the processing of your request. Please refer to the event log for more detail information. Please contact the server administrator for assistance."

I've double-checked and made sure that users have permission to the inetsrv folder.

I've double-checked and made sure IIS is associating asp files correctly under the application mapping session.

I'm don't have much experience with web development, so I'm kinda at a loss. I've checked around and have read how permissions can affect the display of asp files, but I'm logged in as admin so I should at least be able to see the files, correct?

If anyone has any ideas or knows of any links that might be helpful, I would appreciate it.

Thanks.

Here's a test. first take a regular .htm file and rename it with .asp extensions and see if it works. If it still fails, it very well could be permissions. Anyone access an asp site requires change rights to your \%systemroot%\system32\inetsrv\ directory. This directory is located in your OS install directory.

Is is a very common problem, especially for servers that have been secured further than the standard Windows 2000 install.

I ended up uninstalling/reinstalling IIS and worked like a charm!

Thanks for your help, though!
