Well I sure consider IE7 3rd party at this point!

It's been causing all sorts of new support issues.
The following is a known solution to IE7 causing issues with Exchange and IIS. The main issue it was written for is the fact that IE7 causes the Exchange System Manager help to break. It may not apply to your situation, but there's a chance that it may change the behavior of IIS when IE7 is installed. It's not quite a Microsoft-approved solution yet:
--------------
The supported workaround is to remove the PSAPI.DLL from the Exchsrvr\bin subdirectory
1) Stop All Exchange and IIS services.
Stop the Exchange System Attendant Service
Stop the IIS Admin Service
2) Open a Command Prompt rename the PSAPI.DLL in the exchsrvr\bin directory. to PSAPI.DLL.OLD
3) Restart the Exchange and IIS services.
--------------
I would recommend just not reinstalling IE7 and watch stability. I've personally not allowed IE7 to install on any of the servers I manage and haven't had a single regret so far.
