I've just finally got around to installing IIS on my XP pro machine at home. I have a domain name that I would like to start hosting, but I'm not sure how to do it. I know that if you type in my IP you'll get to the site, but how do I make the association of my IP address to the domain name? Do I need to register with someone? Thanks for any help. I bought my domain through GoDaddy...

towntopic,

You need to have someone provide Domain Name Service, that effectively translates your domain name to an IP address.

I don't know if GoDaddy does this, but there are several companies that provide DNS for cheap or even free. If you don't have DNS set up with anyone yet, check out for free DNS.
