Greetings:
I did a full install of IIS in my stand-alone PC. Why? Well, I am studying the tutorials that come with Macromedia Dreamweaver MX, and the next-to-last tutorial needs IIS installed to use a few sample ASP pages.
I did the usual things to check that IIS is actually there. There is a c:\Inetpub folder. I went to "Administrative Tools>Services" and checked that IIS is running. However, when I type (or the IP, or the computer's name), or click on the link in XP's HELP, I get a 500 internal server error.
Any idea what I may be doing wrong? :-(
Regards,
Edwin
P.S. I don't know if this is important, but the Windows XP Pro HELP says "Before you install IIS, you need to install the Windows TCP/IP Protocol and Connectivity Utilities" which to me is extremely vague since I'm not sure what they mean by that. I mean, I'm connecting to the internet via dial-up right now, so that means I have the TCP/IP protocol installed, right? Or do they mean the "Simple TCP/IP Services" within the "Add/Remove Windows Components"? I apologize if I sound clueless but, well, I am. :-/
