Hi all, hope someone can help with my misbehaving PC! Everything fine until 3pm yesteday. Nothing new installed, and have tried restoring two separate points from earlier this week, to no avail. These are very annoying, as they bring up dialogs that are 'always on top', so I have resorted to stopping services to get rid.

Error 1 (happens during or after login, depending on how quick I do it)

Visual C++ Runtime Error
C:\windows\system32\spoolsv.exe
Abnormal Program Termination

No printers show up, if I click on add printer I get the error again. In the end I just stop the print spooler service to stop the errors. Event viewer shows:

Event Type: Error
Event Source: Service Control Manager
Event Category: None
Event ID: 7034
Date: 05/08/05
Time: 14:06:03
User: N/A
Computer: MIKE
Description:
The Print Spooler service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 3 time(s).

Error 2

Event Type: Error
Event Source: Application Error
Event Category: (100)
Event ID: 1004
Date: 05/08/05
Time: 13:58:38
User: N/A
Computer: MIKE
Description:
Faulting application inetinfo.exe, version 5.1.2600.2180, faulting module infocomm.dll, version 6.0.2600.2180, fault address 0x0001e560.

That's pretty much it. I have to use the iisreset.exe /stop command to get rid of the inetinfo error.

AVG says clean. MS Antispyware says clean. Running XP Pro, SP2.

Any ideas?

Cheers

Mike

I will give myself a star :)

Spooler fixed using the 'cleanspl.exe' file from the server 2003 resource kit. Means you have to reinstall any printers, but fixed the problem and let me get on...

IIS fixed by installing all IIS components, then removing all, then reinstalling again.

What a nice Friday.
