My admin. just installed Windows Server 2003 and I moved one of my web applications from my development server to the new server. The web app. works fine on my local machine. But when I tried it on the new server, it said "File Not Found" and "HTTP Error 404 - File or directory not found."

Any idea what I should do about it? The admin. told me that .NET framework 1.1 has been installed. I just allowed ASP extension which was prohibited by default in IIS 6. Any other setting I need to change in IIS 6?

Thanks!

Jenny

Did you create an IIS Virtual Directory for this application on the new server?

Yes, I created it already. I think there could be some other setting I need to change in IIS?

We had something similar recently on a W2003 machine (but it was both ASPX and ASP pages that were returning the Page Not Found error).

In our case it turned out to the in the Application Pool settings (there was an Exception entry for ASP.NET which caused them not to be loaded). You could check that there isn't anything similar in your settings.

So what exactly did you do in Application Pool Setting? Please let me know since I'm still trying to get it worked.

We removed the Exception entry for ASP.NET

How to remove the exception entry? Where is it? I've never done it before.

Go into IIS and select Application Pools. Also check the Web Service Extensions to make sure ASP.NET is allowed.

I found out that ASP.NET 1.1 was not enabled. Once I enabled it, everything works!!

Thanks!

Yep - same problem that we had!
