Hello all,

I recently had to restore my webserver from an older backup. Static sites (those with no asp) work fine. When I attempt to log into an asp site I get the following;

"Server Application Error
The server has encountered an error while loading an application during the processing of your request. Please refer to the event log for more detail information. Please contact the server administrator for assistance."

So I look at the log and get the following two items;

Event Type: Error
Event Source: DCOM
Event Category: None
Event ID: 10004
Date: 10/27/2004
Time: 4:47:33 PM
User: N/A
Computer: ITCMAILWEB
Description:

and

Event Type: Warning

Event Category: None
Event ID: 36
Date: 10/27/2004
Time: 4:47:33 PM

This happen every time I attrmpt to access an asp website. I found an article;
and have performed those steps. I created the accounts and assigned the password. The passwords match exactly. Still no-go on asp webpages.

Any thoughts?

Can I uninstall and re-install IIS to fix this issue?

Thanks,
-TeJaWood

Well, I get to answer my own question. Yes, a reinstall fixed the issue. I had to re-connect all of the websites in the IIS Admin, but all seems to be "ok" for now.

HTH,
-TeJaWood

How did you reconnect all the sites in iis admin?

I'm having this issue as well. Had to reinstall iss and when I did that all asp pages aren't working. I had one asp program that I was able to get to work by setting the security to low{pooled}.

But we also use Software Updates Services and no matter what I've tried I can't get it to work. I've reinstalled sus and have played with permissions as well as doing the same things i did with the first virtual directory to get it to work but it doesnt' work with sus admin.

This is what i'm getting BTW

The Event ID is 36

The server failed to load application '/LM/W3SVC/1/ROOT/autoupdate'. The error was 'No such interface supported
'.
