IN our corporation we use MS SQL7 and have no immediate plans for upgrading to SQL 2000. I am being sent for training and I want to attend SQL 2000 Admin training. My boss however is insisting that I go for SQL 7 Admin training. How can I convince her that I will be trained for 7 after I attend 2000 training?

With your SQL Server 2000 training - you'll definately be able to find your way around SQL Server 7. A couple of options will be on different menus - and you'll soon notice that SQL Server 7 is full of irritating bugs.

I'm trained on SQL Server 7.0 and have had no problem using SQL Server 6.5, I had a quick play with 2000 too - and things don't look too different.

The only difference in the training is that in a couple of years the SQL Server 2000 one will look better on your CV.

I agree with hellferret. There are many more similarities than differences. Robert Bradley

Both comments have not addressed the question: how to convince the boss that 2000 training prepares you to manage SQL7.
