Hello all-

Here's my question. What will syslog give me.. will it tell me whether my network is experiencing bottlenecks at all?

thanks to all

I think .. in short.. no it won't. syslog can only inform you of changes to the device you're monitoring. It will not tell you how utilised a particular port or ports are.

A better option may be something like MRTG which you can configure to monitor port/trunk and etherchannel utilisation. You will then see graphical representations of network utilisation through the device thereby giving you some impression of where potential bottlenecks are developing.
