If I do a gradient this tan color appears where the pure background color is supposed to be. Pure as in pure black, #000000

Sorry, it was 3 in the morning ^^;; I want to know how to fix it

Are you working in RGB mode, 8-bit?

Not to ask the obvious, but is your foreground set to white, and background to black in the color palette?

One thing that sometimes repairs anomalies is to delete your pref file... start Photoshop and before it loads hit CTRL + Shift + Alt (sometimes this takes a few tries, you have to be fast) and you will get a pop up that asks if you want to delete your preferences, select yes.

When in doubt, deny all terms and defnitions.

Fizzy--

Viol8ion is very patient for trying to answer your extremely vague question. Give as many details as possible and you will probably get the exact answer you need. What did you do before that "tan color appear[ed] where the pure background color is supposed to be. Pure as in pure black, #000000."

Are any of the opacity settings less than 100%?

For example if you want to make a gradient from red to transparent on a black background, the two colours you would use for the gradient would be RED and BLACK(with the black set to 0% opacity.

If you use red to white(with 0% opacity), the gradient will fade gradually to 0% white transparency, so you may find a lightening and fading at the same time.

Moe: It could have been a real ugly situation, but luckily I managed to shoot him in the spine.

Thanks viol8ion, I deleted the prefs file and all is well again!
