Hello,

I open internet explorer to any web site, including my home page, read the news, then close down internet explorer normally. Over several days, when getting a list of running processes from task manager, I found that every time I opened and closed internet explorer, it left an IEXPLORE.EXE process running. After several days, I had consumed most or all of my ram with these processes that I thought had closed down every time I exited from internet explorer.

I can certainly shut down these processes manually in task manager, but obviously something is wrong. Can anyone suggest a way of ensuring that internet explorer does in fact shut down when I exit the program? Have I got an impropper setting in IE settings, or in my registry somewhere?

Never saw this before under win2kpro. All other aspects of the computer are running normally, and I endeavor to keep a clean machine with regular maintanence.

Tks for suggestions.

This can be due to:
. IM clients, including Windows Messenger
. email software

It should not exhaust available RAM, nor should there be multiple instances.

I would suggest a malware scan: faq608-4650
