Hi folks.
I am completely baffled.
I've got about thirty client computers W98, W2K running IE6
proxying through a W2K box running Sambar Server.
When the clients start up IE, it pops right up to their
home page; when they navigate off the home page
it fails to connect for two or three minutes,
then will intermittently connect to wherever they
want to surf to.
When it is failing to connect they get messages from
squid.iccn.com that "access was denied, contact your
administrator". (CNN.COM is home page for a lot of people)
I also see unusual behavior in IE6 - it "hangs" on a site -
you can surf to google.com, then type in a different address
and hit enter; it takes you right back to google.com.
then, wait a minute or two and you will be allowed to
navigate away from google.com (or whatever).
The Sambar Server box has one NIC, two different addresses on it (it is mail server as well, and internally we use
a different address to hit the mail server).
I'm flummoxed; I've changed settings in IE6 to refresh page every time; use minimum disk for temp files; done all the windows updates that were available ( I know, that's probably what got me into trouble).
anyone got a clue?
Chris
