Does anyone know how to lock the IE homepage from being changed by the user? I need to lock it to my intranet homepage and prevent may user from changing it. Please Help!!!

I don't want to install any new software to be able to do this, I am wanting to do this in the registry.

Is the user an administrator on the machine-if they are they will be able to change this back again.

They are administrators to the machine. But if I can edit it in the registry, they will not be able to figure it out. I am confident of this.

1. Change the ACLs for "Everyone" to read, for registry key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\StartPage value.

2. Or, Create a new DWORD value based on the options below, and set the new value to "1" to enable the restriction or "0" to disable the restriction.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer

NoBrowserOptions - Disable the Tools > Internet Options menu.

Restart Internet Explorer for the restrictions to take effect.

I went to the registry and only could go as far as the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft.

That was it, there is nothing past that except a folder \SystemCertificates.

Not, \Software\Policies

\Software\Microsoft\....

Lets try again.

Start, Run, gpedit.msc

Local Computer Policy
User Configuration
Administrative Templates
Windows Components
Internet Explorer
Internet Control Panel
Double click and enable the policy "Disable the General Page"

You will want to make sure that all of your default settings for Temporary Internet Files are set as you want, including cache size and 'Clear Temporary Internet Files on exit.' And any other settings on the General tab you think appropriate.

You don't say what OS you are using but if you are using win2000 or XP you can type mmc from the run box add a new snapin, add group policy. Many, many settings for IE that you can change from here along with many other user and computer settings.
