Just started experiencing a problem when trying to connect to the internet with IE or the mail servers with OL2K. I am using XP. I can get around using AOL and other programs seem to connect just fine (i.e. weatherbug) This just started happening on 8-22 at about 10:00am MST. I have scanned the system for viruses twice (two different programs) and nothing found. the error I get is the standard XP error " (program) has experienced a problem and must be shut down" "send report and dont send" buttons are in the error box. any clues?

More info:

If I disconnect the PC from the internet connection (always on DSL), I can bring up IE and Outlook (of course they cant go anywhere due to no connection).

I am at a TOTAL loss here (because of the other programs that have no problems connecting) and am in need some seriouse help!

Thanks in advance to ALL who reply!

Start, Run, eventvwr.msc

Look for greater details on why the program shutdown in the System log.

Checked the event log:

Faulting application iexplorer.exe, version 6.0.2800.1106, faulting module unknown, version 0.0.0.0, fault address 03x0588e5.

outllok gives the same error but address and version are different.

tryied to run McAfee's Sacn for Updates and the same error appeared with diff version number and address.

ARRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGHHHHH THIS SUCKS

If the application changes but the error remains essentially the same it sounds as if it is a RAM issue. I am a little bothered because this is generally a class 1000 error, which indicates that a .dll is missing or cannot be found.

In any case, RAM is the number one suspect for this error class. Try one of these memory testers:

Thanks again for all who tried to help. I did almost everything... so now it is in the shop... I'll let eveyone know what they find when I get it back.

Thanks again to all who replied! I never figured out the problem... I just took the system back to Zero and did a format and reinstalled XP. That seemed to do the trick.
