On our NT Machines we set in the register,

[HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main]
"Start Page"=""First Home Page"="\\Ourserver\ipolicy\policypage.html"

Which causes our all our users to see our Internet Policy screen, as the first page they see when they open IE.
But a different Home Page.

Does anyone know of a simpler regedit for XP?

Any Suggestions Welcome,

Thank You

Can you clarify your question. Does that Registry setting work on XP machines? What are you trying to avoid or achieve by use of a "simpler regedit for XP"?

Have you looked in Group Policy to see what is available there.

Just to clarify.

No this reg setting does not on XP.
I use these reg settings in Group Policy to set the default user setting for all our users.

So when a user is first created on a machine, and opens IE,
they get a start page which is different to their homepage.

I was just wondering if any know of a reg setting in XP that does the same thing?

Thanks for the links.

I'm having a similar problem when trouble shooting my friend's computer. Whenever he starts IE in XP Home Edition, it defaults to the same page and 4 folders are created in the favorites. When I set the default page to something else, it reverts back to that particular homepage. The homepage was or something like that. Also, when I tried to delete the four folders in the favorites, it gets created again when I run IE again the next time automatically. Is there a script that is running whenever I open IE that's causing this? I tried modifying the registry and remove any reference to that website but to no avail. Can someone help?

Have a look at this FAQ, read about hijacking and spyware.
