I recently upgraded my Internet Explorer from 5.0 to 5.50.4807

Ever since, my system will hang if I click on a link in an external program -- for example a URL in an email in my Eudora or the "View with IE" link in my HTML editor. IE does not crash, it just doesn't respond. The program that is trying to transfer the link to IE is the one that hangs. Bringing up task manager and closing the calling program fixes the hang-up, except for Eudora, where a complete reboot is necessary to restore Eudora (after deleting the owner.lok file).

Anybody know of such an issue with IE5.5? Everything worked fine with 5.0 and I don't really want to go to 6.0.

Specs:
Win98SE
Norton antivirus 2002 (auto-protect off)
Sygate Internet sharing
Eudora Mail 4.2.2
I.E. 5.50.4807

Thanks for any help.

Have you tried the repair feature in the Add/Remove progams icon in the control panel? If you have tried that without any luck, you might try to install the newest version on IE, which would be 6.0. That may help. "Jack of all trades. Master of none."

Hyperlinks don't work

First, try setting IE5 as your default browser. Go to IE tools/internet options/programs and
turn on the check box for IE to check if it is the default browser. Shut down and restart IE.
When it asks to be default browser, say yes.
