Hi all,

I currently have 2 users who's phone does not ring when calling. I have looked on call status and it shows that the 2 users are 'Idle'.

How do i overcome them being Idle so there phones can ring?

Hi,

They are really old handsets 2040 model, running on IP403.

2040's I seen 30's (DT) but not 40's, I assume you have tried resetting the handset, and as daft as this sounds a solid whack on the desk using the entire phone can fix this not ringing thing :)

ACSS (SME)
APSS (SME)

Unfortunately i am not on site, carrying out remote access.

So i have not been able to give it a whack, LOL. How can i advise the customer to reset the phone? Meaning the code to input?

Aren't that those phone where you have to give it a nice smack on it and that it starts working again ?

A yard full of tards

make sure the handset is in group & not on dnd or forward unconditional.

this is the cause of the problem you are reporting in almost all cases.
sometimes the ringer goes silent, changing the ringer volume usually resolves this.

Amridle the DT/20xx handsets came in 4 variants

DT1/2010, basic phone no display
DT3/2030, Display phone with hands free no BLF lamps
DT4/2040, Display phone no Handsfree, BLF lamps
DT5/2050, Display phone with Hnadsfree & BLF lamps
(& to be totally accurate there was also the short lived DT6
which was a DT% with RS232 to give Basic CTI on an INDeX)

DT3/2030 & DT5/2050 wer by far the most popular versions

If the handsets don't actually ring (i.e calls go to voicemail) check the wrap up time for those users. In default it's 2 secs but if set to 0 will make the phone constantly busy (after it makes its first call) but will allways be able to dial out.

If its just that the phones don't make any noise but can still be answered, then like the others have said giving em a bit of a tap sometimes works

Thanks for your replys,

I have not carried out the whack fix yet.

I am a little confused as off why on 'Call Status' it would say the extn is 'Idle' when calling.

Rather then having a Bell next to its extension when ringing.

Any ideas?

Hi,

Yeah the ringer does not work, however when i do call the handset the user is able to pick up the handset and the call is connected.

The problem is the user is not getting alerted for the call.

Call status, when calling has a red line befor the extension name rather than a ringer.

Any rather help would be appreciated and thanks for your responses so far.

Unfortunally for you : this is a ongoing issue which has been identiefied by Avaya but never solved, it will never be solved either.
