For one particular job, I have to send my pdfs out-of-house. My printer was having to open the pdfs & resave them in order to get them to print properly. We had a little chit-chat, ran a few test. Here's how I make his pdfs:
Command/print
Printer - postscript file
PPD - PSM 7.1 (the ppd supplied by my printer)
General - click on spreads if required
Setup - make sure fit to size is NOT clicked on
Paper Size - custom (it will automatically give a size large enough for crops, etc if you require them)
Output
Composite cmyk for 4colour
Leave unchanged for spot colours
All the other settings are pretty standard depending on what you require for your work flow.
After I had all the settings the way I wanted them, I did a "Save Preset" with a name that I'd recognize like "ps for Creo" so next time all I have to do is
Print Preset - ps for Creo
and everything will automatically change to my settings.
Anyway, it took a little R&D, but they've had no problems since I started doing their pdfs this way.
