IDE Internal 100 MB Zip Drive Issue...

Hi all,

On some of my Windows 2000 machines there is a problem with Iomega/Generic 100 MB ATAPI Zip drives on access.

Sometimes, and only sometimes, the drive will fail to read on a machine, and will then start to constantly access the drive. The drive light stays on permanently.

The only resolution is to shut down the computer (restart does nothing) and then try it again, where it _might_ work.

My users are set as "users" not "power users", which is how I'd like to keep it if I must.

This is odd because some of my machines don't have this problem.

Anyone have this same issue? And perhaps a fix?

Thanks for any help you can provide. J.R. Juiliano

I had a similar issue with W2K and an internal zip. I installed the drivers from Iomega's site for W2K (though it didn't seem to need them), and the problems vanished.

For what it's worth.

Thanks. I might have to give that a shot, if nothing else comes up.

Thanks again. J.R. Juiliano
